MY STORY
After successfully guiding colleagues and developing talent through years of dramatic structural, financial and technological change at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and its stltoday.com website, I am now seeking a new leadership role in the corporate, civic or nonprofit world. PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
My Experience
I have led planning and production of all news and business content for a major metropolitan newspaper and the region's most popular website. I have overseen departments of 40 to 100 employees with annual budgets of $3 million to $6 million. I have created dozens of new publications, blogs, online channels, special sections and books. And I offer particular interest and expertise in the areas of economic development, business, science, health and innovation.

DEPUTY MANAGING EDITOR
2008-2017
Managed the newsroom's largest department at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the biggest of chain's 48 newspapers. Oversaw regional, financial, investigative, statehouse and Washington, D.C., news operations, producing content for digital and print. Promoted to executive operating committee. Primary liaison with TV station partner. Represented company on community and industry panels.
ASSISTANT MANAGING EDITOR/METRO
2005-2008
Managed daily local-news operation consisting of 15 editors and 70-plus reporters. Planned and executed introduction of first-ever, daily, localized editions to bolster coverage, circulation and advertising in the suburbs. Increased digital production and urgency through creation of breaking news directive that reorganized staff to develop web and mobile content.
DEPUTY METRO EDITOR
2001-2005
Coordinated local news coverage as No. 2 manager in Metro Department. Guided coverage of major news events and redeployed people and other resources necessary to do the job right, including beat reorganization for 9-11/war on terrorism.
